Feast on Qualia & Wine Park’s family meals!

Bring your family together this weekend for a homely Spanish Family Meal by Qualia paired with sumptuous wines handpicked from the Wine Park Selection!

Times like these, family meals mean more than ever hence Qualia and Wine Park have crafted a homely weekend brunch that the family can experience together. Qualia Restaurant’s head and epic chef Rahul Akerkar has curated a Spanish family meal dotted with a spread of Tapas (appetizers) to complement the main course of the very traditional Paella.

Chef Akerkar said that the idea behind the creating the family meal menu was to bring the family together to eat and connect. “Before the lockdown, most families rarely ate together but now that they do, we’ve created a weekend spread that they can share and add another great culinary memory. The family meal menu is all about comfort and soul food,” he said.

And what family meal could be complete without wines? So Wine Park has especially curated two sets of wines from its collection to pair with The Spanish Family Meal. Wine Park head Vishal Kadakia said the he has always been keen to work with Chef Akerkar whose food he himself loves.“For this homely Spanish menu, we decided to pick two sets of wines – one that is for those who simply enjoy easy drinking fruit forward wines and the other which features classic gourmet wines that wine enthusiast will appreciate.”

The Wine Park Selection

Bisol Belstar Cult Prosecco Extra Dry NV

While sparklings are usually popped for celebration, here’s one Italian bubbly worth opening to recognise resilience to the current crisis. The Belstar Cult Prosecco drinks light and crisp with flavours of citrus, green apple and a whiff of minerality.

Vinologist Sauvignon Blanc 2019

Produced in the cool climes of South Africa’s Cape Town region, this fresh, fruity white wine has pleasing notes of lime, gooseberry and flavours of pear, melon and passion fruit, finishing clean on the palate.

Vinologist Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Also from the same South African producer, this easy drinking red wine is medium bodied and fruity with perfumed notes of plums and cherries and a hint of tobacco with dark chocolate on the finish. The tannins are mellow so if you’re just getting started with reds, this one’s a great icebreaker.

The Wine Park Reserve Selection

Gramona, La Cuvee, Brut Gran Reserva 2013

If there’s Spanish cuisine, there’s got to be Spanish wine, hence Cava. Spain’s answer to Champagne, this sparkler is a lively pleaser with flavours of cherry and salted almonds, creamy texture and just the slightest hint of spice on the finish. While this wine has been aged for almost 12 years, the Cava delights with crisp acidity and depth of flavour.

Honig Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Now here’s a pleasant rarity of a white wine from California’s iconic Napa Valley. Boutique producer Honig makes a fruit forward wine with crisp acidity, teeming with flavours of peach, passionfruit, grapefruit and lime, capped with a long finish.

Il Poggione, Rosso Di Montalcino

The centerpiece of this curation, this elegant red comes from the heart of Tuscany which is itself the heart of Italian red wine so you know this ferment is particularly special — velvety texture notes of violets , cherry and leather with flavours of ripe blackberry, vanilla and coffee, and elegant tannins that coat the palate and mind for long after.
