Boekenhoutskloof

Boekenhoutskloof has consistently elicited 90-plus ratings from Robert Parker Jr., the world’s most influential wine critic, and many other palates besides (see below). Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 1997 still holds the record for the highest score achieved by a South African wine in The Wine Advocate.

Boekenhoutskloof consists of four wine ranges:

Boekenhoutskloof, Chocolate Block, Porcupine Ridge, The Wolftrap.

Marc Kent is the Chief winemaker and General Manager at Boekenhoutskloof. In 2007 Marc was awarded with the title of “Diners Club Winemaker of the year” for his Boekenhoutskloof Syrah 2005.

The latest Robert Parker’s Wine Buyer’s Guide and the 2009 Wine Report acknowledges Boekenhoutskloof as South Africa’s # 1 producer.

What the Writers Say – Robert Parker Jr. The Wine Advocate – “I was extremely impressed with the wines of Boekenhoutskloof Winery. Marc Kent, the young, talented winemaker combines the power and ripeness of the New World with the elegance and precision of the Old.”

Robert Joseph, Drink Magazine – “Marc Kent of Boekenhoutskloof makes arguably South Africa’s top white wine in the form of an estate Semillon.”

Matthew Jukes, Daily Mail – “I can’t think of many other £7 wines in the world that are as profoundly and memorably satisfying as this unassuming one. If I tell you it is made with the off-cuts from my favourite ever SA wine (Boekenhoutskloof Syrah), you will understand where it gets its pedigree. This is quite simply one of the best value reds in the world.”

Catherine Lowe, Decanter – “Probably the most attractive young Cabernet Sauvignon I have seen recently was from Boekenhoutskloof Estate in Franschhoek.”
