IL Poggione

Tenuta Il Poggione covers a surface area of 600 hectares, of which 125 hectares are planted with vines. The estate’s guiding principle is to pay meticulous attention to the vineyards, because the secret of producing great red wines lies in tending the vines. On the Poggione estate, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and the wine is made by the traditional method, though modern, state-of-the-art equipment is used. After more than a century, Lavinio Franceschi’s work is still a fundamental point of reference for his successors, Leopoldo and Livia, who continue to develop the business with that same dedication and unflagging passion, combining the ancient skills of winemaking crafts and tradition with the latest, most progressive techniques. An unwaivering attention to every detail in the vineyards, respect for the environment and for the centuries-old traditions and teachings passed down: this is the philosophy at Tenuta Il Poggione. A historic winery in harmony with its territory.
