Argentina

Argentine winemaking regions are often located in broad valleys or sloping plains and offer ideal conditions for grape growing.  Most of the vineyards are located far from the cities and their pollution, and grow on young, scarcely tilled soils. Main grape varieties are Malbec and the indigenous white grape Torrontés.  Most of the vineyards in Argentina lie next to the Andes, in a series of irrigated oases while the rest is desert. These lands spread across more than 1500 kilometres from the Provinces of Salta in the north to Rio Negro and Neuquen in Patagonia.
