Wine Park recently shipped in three Pinot Noir expressions from Burgundian wine royalty Domaine Henri Gouges

Fine Wines importer Wine Park has added organic Burgundy winery, Domaine Henri Gouges to its premium selection, shipping in three red wines from the premier estate of Burgundy’s Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation. Domaine Henri Gouges has a history of winemaking going back 100 years and is presently managed by third generation winemakers from the Gouges family, producing some of Burgundy’s finest Pinot Noir wines. The three wines handpicked from the prestigious estate’s portfolio are Maison Henri Gouges Nuits Saint Geirges Villages Rouge 2019, Henri Gouges Nuits Saint Georges 1Er Cru Clos Des Porrets Saint Georges 2020, Henri Gouges Nuits Saint Georges 1Er Cru Les Vaucrains 2020

On the occasion of the launch, Wine Park founder and head, Vishal Kadakia said, “I feel especially proud to add this great legacy Burgundy estate to the Wine Park collection. I tasted Henri Gouges’s wines twenty years ago during a transformative visit to Burgundy. Recently, I managed to connect with an influential negociant who helped me bring Henri Gouges’s wines to India.” Vishal added that Henri Gouges is one of the few organic producers in Nuits-Saint-Georges which is rated as one of the world’s top appellations for Pinot Noir wines. “The Pinot Noir style of Nuits-Saint-Georges expresses a balance of elegant structure, ripe red fruit and potential to age for long which has won the Burgundian appellation great acclaim,” Vishal said.

Domaine Henri Gouges is rated as one of the top producers of Burgundy’s Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation and traces its lineage back over 400 years of family grape farming. Henri Gouges inherited 9 hectares of prime Nuits-St-Georges vineyards in 1920 which today stands at 14.5 hectares – including seven of the best situated Premier crus. Since the beginning, the Domaine has remained an undivided family property. Today, Henri’s grandchildren Pierre and Christian continue realising his vision.

While the house style has evolved, the main focus is the better reflection of the terroir in its Pinot Noir expression through organic viticulture. Domaine Henri Gouges’s abiding philosophy of maintaining the lowest yield per hectare thereby enhancing the quality and concentration of the fruit has ensured decades of high quality vintages and a reputation that precedes the producer’s wines the world over.

The estate is consistently feted as one of the flagships of Nuits-Saint-Georges which is widely regarded as producing some of the world’s finest Pinot Noir. Nuits-Saint-Georges is a commune that thrives Burgundy’s eastern appellation of Côte-d’Or. It is Côte-d’Or’s second largest commune and is prime red wine country. Nearly 97 per cent of the appellation’s wine is red and produced from Burgundy’s famous homegrown grape Pinot Noir. Nuits-Saint-Georges wine region has a rich and unique history with a long tradition of viticulture dating back to before the Roman era and today holds enjoys a stellar reputation for making flavourful and bold Pinot Noir. The region is blessed with Burgundy’s hallmark cool climate and its vines are rooted in marl and limestone soils.
