The Dönnhoff family first came to the region over 200 years ago and established a modest farm. As time went by they turned the farm into a fully fledged wine estate, with the acquisition of top vinyards. Helmut has not only been making the wine since 1971 but has continued to purchase top sites, namely the Kupfergrube, Kirschheck and Dellchen. Eiswein is an important specialty for the Dönnhoff estate. Weingut Donnhoff is a member of the VDP Grosser Ring Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Donnhoff have several Grand Cru sites such as:
