Vishal’s Wine Trends For 2025

We’ve just hit 2025 and you’ve got no need to worry about mining for the ‘go-to’ wine trends of 2025. We’ve got you covered as Wine Park head Vishal Kadakia lists his top five wine trends for the fresh score of months ahead.
Orange, The New Red
Orange Wines are the next big thing, charming palates with a unique style featuring white wines produced using a unique method of extended skin contact, fermentation as well as ageing in barrel that imparts a wider spectrum of flavours and the distinct orange colour. The results have been impressing critics and enthusiasts alike across America and Europe and are one to watch out for. Discover orange wines from Italian family estate Radikon, considered to be one of the foremost producers of the style, featured in the Wine Park selection.
Sicily, We Love
Sicily is a vastly underrated region that more than holds its own when juxtaposed with the marquee Italian regions of Tuscany and Verona. One particular Sicilian DOC draws particular attention for its mineralesque wines as much as it does for the sheer bravery of the local winemakers, vinifying fruit under the watch of Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano. Wines from this region have been recently recognised and appreciated for their modern styles with a smoky, mineral influence. Two of the classified region’s leading local grapes Carricante (makes white wine that makes aromatic wines touched with minerality) and Nerello Mascalese ( makes elegant red wines similar to Pinot Noir) in fact feature prominently in Wine Park’s Sicilian selection.
La La Loire
Loire Valley used to be one of France’s most unsung region of potential but today is talk of the wine world, especially Middle Loire which is making some fabulous wines from Chenin Blanc and Cabernet France. Wine bars across Paris and most of Europe have been listing and pouring these sublime styles and you can try them right here from our selection featuring Domaine Guiberteau whose winemaker, Romain Guiberteau who has elevated the standards of Loire’s Saumur appellation with his organic and low interventionist approach making stellar styles of local stars Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc.
Pinot Bargains
There will never be a shortage of pinotphiles who swear by the delicate red grape even though the price of the original Burgundian Pinot Noir is rising beyond the means of many. But hey, it’s a brand new year and we come bearing good news in the form of value driven and exuberant Pinots from neighbours Austria and Germany that have successfully honed a style distinct from Burgundy, limning an earthy style to go with the red fruit palate. German styles from Franken and Austrian styles from Burgenland are distinctly good and don’t cost the earth. Discover fine Germanic Pinot Noir from Rudolf Fürst and the Austrian turn from Loimer.
The New Portugal
Modern Portuguese wines from regions like Dao, Vinho Verde and Alentejo will be one of 2025’s most notable trends. For a long time, Portugal was largely associated with Port wines produced in the country’s northern region of Douro Valley but over the course of the last decade, that perception has been changed by stunningly good modern style wines that the Portuguese vinify from over 250 local grape varieties. In fact Wine Park ships in the Quinta do Ameal, Loureiro, an exuberant white wine from the Vino Verde region that typifies Portugal’s modern wine revolution.
